if you have an SLR camera you just adjust the camera's shutter speed to a setting called bulb (which is the slowest it will go). Then for as long as you keep the button pushed for taking a picture, you can move a light around and the camera will catch it all. pretty much it will keep the shutter open and catch all of the lights movement until you let it close.
